A memorial window for Gladys Ball

Fused stained glass door panel, 2008

Memorial window for Gladys BallMemorial window (90cm x 53cm) for Gladys Ball, nee Gillett, 1912-2007.

In the centre is the Maltese Cross, symbol of the St. John Ambulance Brigade that she belonged to for many years. On the left of the window is Salehurst Church in East Sussex where she was christened, and on the right is Chantry House convalescent home in Ipswich where she worked for many years as a nurse. Her healing hands are holding her favourite flower Viola odorata (a symbol of great affection and fidelity). These qualities were very much part of her character, and she was known affectionately as "Glad". Labor omnia vincit is a common Latin phrase, meaning "Hard work conquers all".
